About us.
This forum was initially designed for both Jehovah’s Witnesses and those who are not Jehovah’s Witnesses to discuss doctrines, issues, world events, and a lot of other topics that might come up. [][]I will change this page and might even get rid of it. Especially removing the pictures. And the unrelated content and logos and links below.[][]
About us.
Not much of a team yet. This forum grew out of another forum from 2012 or so called JW-Archive. That forum was incorporated into a more general forum called The World News Media forum ( once available at theworldnewsmedia.org )
The Process
To participate, just like in “JW-Archive” and “The World News Media” you will be asked to log in. If you already have a WordPress login, you may use it, but you may also create a new
200+
Topics Covered
200+ topics have been commented upon in previous versions of this forum. To help initiate interest in this forum, we have re-inserted a lot of the topics that showed up in previous versions. Not all of them were saved, but I saved a bunch of my own, and there were a few items on web.archive.org (Wayback Machine) that collected some topics.
100%
of nothing is nothing
Just to make this section look like an informative infographic, the heading says 100%. But this is just filler to make the page look more balanced. Somewhere on this page we will address the process of signing up, commenting, etc.
60+
Years of Experience
The guy (me) who set up this forum is over 60, and he will likely remain healthy enough for another 10 to 20 years. His plan is to find someone younger and more energetic who is trustworthy to hand the site off to. In the meantime, he will pay for the domain and hosting for about 5 years, and renew it for another 5 when the time comes. For this reason, there will be a DONATION link on the page. The themes, plugins, webhosting, domain name, privacy, etc., all cost a lot of money for myself or the person(s) inheriting the site for future maintenance.
Rules of the Forum
01
Respectful
We will not be able to interfere with or litigate every issue that comes up. And moderators might not see questionable or inappropriate comments as soon as they appear, or might not get to them within days. So just try to be kind and respectful.
02
Penalties
We will try to avoid the ultimate penalty of kicking someone off the platform for making questionable or inappropriate comments. But moderators might edit or delete comments. We will do our best not to interfere.
03
Apostasy
This is a forum with religious themes, and association with known apostates is a concern. There is no way, however, to determine apostasy without knowing the participant personally. Bringing up a topics, issues, or questions does not make one apostate, even if they are sharing them from “apostate” sources. Therefore, we will not be able to police “apostate” comments or criticism. Moderators of the JW Closed forum may with to censor links and long quotes from obvious apsostate sources.
04
Privacy
As with all forums, creating a login for posting topics and responses is done with an email address. But the names can be fake, the email address is only needed to register and can be a throw-away email address. If happen to use a real email address tied to your real identity, the owners and moderators of the forum will not save the email, or make use of it in any way.
05
Privacy Again
Anyone may leave comments on previous posts without creating a login, and they are therefore completely anonymous. The forum does ask for a name email, and website for those making comments, but these can all be faked. I tested it with the name: Fake, email: [email protected], and the Website: www.fake.fake, and it allowed the comment. Comments may not show up immediately until approved by a moderator.
06
Advertising and Spamming
This is annoying to almost everyone, and posts that appear to be only intended to promote a product or another website will likely be removed, unless the purpose is to promote something a known forum participant is legitimately sharing. Products already under discussion, a book, blog post, or website that a participant has written, or found useful are acceptable.
Our Amazing Team
We are not so amazing, but that was the word found here in the template I used to create the forum. But if others join the forum and become willing to moderate or add content, perhaps a team will come together after all. We do have room for various moderators who can act as gatekeepers of existing and new forums.
